"Magical Moments"

Six weeks ago I bought tickets to the circus.

Trev wasn't too thrilled about going...but was willing.
We opted NOT to tell the girls until the day we were going just to avoid, "We are not going to the circus today and not the next day...but the next day???" "What about the next day...mama??"

Sunday, we headed for the Trax station to ride the train downtown to the arena. The girls weren't sure what to expect, we tried to explain the circus a bit but I am sure it is hard to imagine. We arrived and bought popcorn, cotton candy, and lemonade. WE WERE SET!

Found out seats....

Then the magic began......
I glanced at the girls and their eyes were wide open....their eyes danced from place to place, taking in all of the colors, sparkle, lights, and music.

The ring master came out and began to sing a song...a woman came out riding an elephant! Addi's little hand tapped my leg in total excitement...."Mama, is that a REAL elephant?" "Yes", I said. Then men on horses came riding out. "Mama, are those REAL horses?" Again, "Yes", I said. Then a moment later a small wagon with goats in it, pulled by tiny white horses came out. Addi was in totally disbelief...."Mama.....REAL goats!!!" She was elated! I said, "Yea!!" She was in love! She acted as if the circus was the most amazing thing she had ever seen. She squealed each time a new clown popped up or a new act was performed. She kept asking me, "Mama is it over?" after each act was finished. She didn't want the excitement to end. Here eyes were glued to the arena floor but her hand was constantly seeking out the cotton candy. She would push the huge piece of cotton candy into her little mouth and lick each finger and never even blink or take her eyes off the action.

At intermission Teagan and Addison changed seats.

I had the privilege of sitting next to Teagan for the 2nd half.

The magic continued......
Teagan giggled as clowns distracted the audience while the stage crew set up the Tiger cage. Teagan is a HUGE lover of all things living, animals, bugs, plants, people....

When the spot light lit up the Tiger cage I watched Teagan's little face. She was AMAZED! Without taking here eyes off the cage, she tapped my leg and said, "Mom...do you see that?" I said, "Can you believe it?" The tigers were HUGE. Their paws looked as big as dinner plates. There were 9 tigers in the cage with the trainer....

Again....just like Addi, Teagan's little hand fished for the popcorn while her eyes NEVER left the Tiger cage.
The girls watched the circus in sheer amazement, Trev and I watch the girls with sheer amazement!

Who knew that buying something as simple as circus tickets would change MY life so profoundly!

It truly was "The Greatest Show on Earth"!

Thank you God...for giving me magical moments!

I LOVE those magical moments! What a wonderful memory that was created. I am constantly in awe at the sheer joy that children experience and share.

what a perfect evening! your post reminded me of something i heard years ago, a quote to the effect that the journey of life/parenthood would be challenging yet rewarding and that the journey would change us and allow us the opportunity to become the person god intends us to be. that along the way he would bless us with 'perfect moments', but that we would have to carefully watch for them because sometimes they may be only a moment worth. i'm glad you shared this experience. i'm going to try a bit harder to be more childlike and in awe and wonder of those things that i cane some times take for granted. can't wait to see you TMRW!
