Embrace!

Word for 2009.....embrace!

We have to embrace obstacles to reach the next stage of joy.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day." Charles R. Swindoll

“You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.”
Jan Glidewell quotes

Do I Deserve this??

I was inspired to write a post about
Trevor Perry,
not because I want to be boastful
but because I want to make public just how much
he makes my life great!

My husband is a wonderful provider, great friend, funny, witty, super Daddy, intelligent, talented, and some more great things, blah, blah, blah....

That isn't really what I wanted to tell you about today....

It isn't really bragging...I had NOTHING to do with how wonderful he turned out to be....

I am however extremely blessed that he chose me to share his life with.

We have a crazy week this week...getting ready for Halloween, Halloween BBQ, Halloween parties at the girls' schools, getting ready for Uncle Jon and Aunt Bre't to come, getting costumes ready, getting pictures taken, hair cut appointments, gymnastics....etc. When I went thru the list of everything we needed to accomplish this week, Trev listened and took it all in. "Busy...Fun Week", was his reply.

Last night, I took Teagan and Addison to get hair cuts, Trev met me at the salon, he picked up one of the girls while I waited for the other one to get finished. When he arrived, he said, "Addi and I are going to go to the store for all the Halloween BBQ stuff." We are BBQing hot dogs in our garage on Halloween night for all the parents and trick-or-treaters, we will have hot dogs, cider and cocoa. So....Off they went to the store. Which I TOTALLY appreciated...one less task for me.

They arrived home just after Teagan and I got home. I heard the garage door open and I heard the music from the car stereo, Trev and Addi were singing at the top of their lungs. Teag jumped in the car and started singing too! I stood in the doorway watch the trio belt out tunes with the car radio. It was silly bliss.

We unpacked the grocery bags and Trev was totally pumped, "I scored", he said. He then proceeded to tell me about all of the items that he bought on sale and how much $$$$ he saved. I was impressed.

I started to make chili, Trev said, "Is that dinner?" "No, this is for my work potluck tomorrow", I said. His response, "Oh, okay." We then decided to get take-out for dinner. Before I could ask, Trev said, "I'll go get it....who's going with Daddy?" Teagan jumped up. They arrived with dinner and we ate. After dinner Trev cleaned up and helped Teagan with her homework and reading. I took Addi upstairs and got her ready for bed and we put together Halloween gifts for she and Teagan's teachers. Then I put Addi to bed. I could hear Teagan reading to Trev. Then shortly after Teagan went to bed. Then I went to bed and Trev sat in the hot tub. Not sure what time he came to bed.....

This morning I got up and started getting ready for work....and just as it happens every morning, Trev brought me my creamer with a touch of coffee. Then he and I got the girls ready and it was all kisses and hugs and they were all out the door.

As I drove to work I reflected on how well we work together to make our life work. I thought about all of the things he does for us without a complaint or a grumble. I thought about all of the things that I am able to accomplish because I have his help....the list is endless.

I hate to admit it, but at times I have thought, "I wish that Trev would take me to dinner or plan something romantic, more often, like he did when we were dating."

I reflected this morning driving to work and it hit me like a ton of bricks....he didn't take us to dinner, but he brought dinner to us and he IS being romantic.

I realized that he WAS being romantic everyday....I was just failing to recognize it. I am so ashamed...I am a better person than that. I should have seen it before now.
My NEW and IMPROVED version of romantic;

  • Romance is my husband arriving at the salon to pick up one of his ladies (without being asked), so I didn't have to entertain one of them while the other gets her hair cut
  • Romance is him going to the grocery store, so I can cross that task off my list.
  • Romance is watching him and the girls belt out a tune with the car radio blaring!
  • Romance is him not EXPECTING me to have dinner ready every night.
  • Romance is him cleaning up the kitchen, just so I don't have to do it.
  • Romance is him reading with Teagan before bed.
  • Romance is getting a warm cup of coffee with tons of creamer delivered to me every morning.

As I lay my head down tonight, I will thank God for allowing Trevor to choose me as his partner in life. And I will pray that someday God will bring someone just a special and "romantic" into my sister's life.

This reminds me....to wash my windows!

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean", she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap," Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: "Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?" The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

I think at times....we all need to wash our windows.
Love, Holly

A dear friend of mine sent this to me....I am excited to see what everyone has to say about me...... :)
1. Add a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.
